General Guidelines by Weight:
- Toy (3-6 lbs): ⅓ to ½ cup per day
- Small (10-20 lbs): ¾ to 1½ cups per day
- Medium (30-50 lbs): 1¾ to 2⅔ cups per day
- Large (60-100 lbs): 3 to 4½ cups per day
- Giant (100+ lbs): 4⅔+ cups per day
Factors That Affect Food Needs:
- Age: Puppies need 2-3x adult calories per pound
- Activity: Working dogs may need 2x normal amounts
- Metabolism: Some breeds have faster/slower metabolism
- Health: Pregnant/nursing dogs need more food
- Climate: Dogs may eat more in cold weather
